Tours can be tailored to suit any particular area of interest and include handling of some animals. For special gifts and unique souvenirs, please visit our Aquarium Shop located near front reception. There is a café called the Fishbowl Café.

At set times during the day, divers will enter the Oceanarium to feed the fish, and there will be other presentations around the aquarium. Check the sign boards for times.

Go To Top Of PageGannet Colonies - Cape Kidnappers

There are three main colonies on the Cape Kidnappers Gannet Reserve. The Saddle Colony, which is the oldest, was first noted in the 1850's. As the Gannet numbers increased the Plateau Colony was then formed, these two colonies can be viewed by taking a 20 minute walk from the Department of Conservation Rest Shelter. The Black Reef Colony is now the largest of the three and can be viewed from the trailer deck.

The Ocean Spa complex provides open air hot pools year round including a 25 m lap pool, two leisure pools, toddlers pool, outdoor and private indoor spas. The outdoor spas are raised high enough for those seated to enjoy the expansive sea views through the protective glass fencing. Included also in the complex are a steam room, sauna, sun bed, massage facility and the Ocean Club Swim Gym. Bathers enjoy underfloor heating in the change rooms with hire robes, swimwear, towels and equipment also available.

Napier Aquatic Centre is run by the Napier City Council and boasts some of the finest leisure facilities in the region, which combines four superb swimming facilities, three hyrdroslides, two spas and a private learner's pool.

There is something for everyone with a variety of different programmes on offer to entertain people of all ages.

The Napier Aquatic Centre has 2 fast thrill action packed super slides which are open 7 days a week. It has a full size, outdoor, sand volleyball court available, you can hire the court for your own games or host a work challenge.

Meet Seamore the Seagull at our sea-side minigolf courses. Challenge your friends and family for a round and return for a discounted game (same day).

One course is curved amongst landscaped gardens with views out across the Pacific Ocean. Tricky slopes make for a challenging game of minigolf. The other course is full of wacky angles and water hazards wending trhough the trees. If you have struck a Hole in One during your game there are awards to be earned along with Mystery Holes and Score of the Day prizes. Loyalty cards are available - your tenth game is free!

Open daily (weather permitting) 9.30am to 4.30pm (last tee-off).

There are 22 locations of children's playgrounds in Napier City Reserves. Areas devoted specifically to children's play are set aside in various city reserves. They are intended to provide for stimulating but safe play in open air settings.

Napier has numerous walkways linking neighbourhoods and offering the chance to walk in pleasant, quiet surroundings away from the bustle and traffic of city life. The walk routes range over hillside, seaside and riverside locations. In this leaflet some of the most scenic and historically interesting walks are highlighted. Some of the walks are circular, many are one way, some link up with others.

Daily walking tours - Join the 20,000 plus people who take a guided Art Deco Walk each year. Your accredited guide will bring Napier's fascinating architecture to life for you as you take an easy stroll through the compact Art Deco Quarter in the vibrant city centre. Walks are held twice daily year-round (except Christmas Day), and are held rain or shine. No bookings are necessary.

All walkers receive an informative Art Deco Walk booklet. Complimentary refreshments and a video screening are available afterwards.

Located in the centre of Napier, Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery transcends its modest size to maintain an enviable reputation of the home of the most innovative design exhibitions in New Zealand.
