This document provides a range of data about Napier City, from the first release of detailed 2001 Census information by Statistics New Zealand. The document provides, in effect, a basic social and economic profile of Napier City and its constituent suburbs.
A requirement of the Local Government Act 2002 is to report on progress against the community outcomes identified by the public. The purpose of establishing the community outcomes was to get the community's view on the things it considers important for its long term wellbeing.
Our first report to the Safe Communities Foundation of New Zealand as an accredited World Health Organisation Safe Community identifies the collaborative work achieved under the required criteria and outlines our response to the accreditation recommendations.
This survey sets out a framework for considering social well being and important information about the quality of life for Napier residents. Items measured are housing, health, safety, employment, education and training, vehicle and Internet access, nature of community and community relationships.
Napier Social Monitor Comparison Report 2000 to 2009

This report follows as closely as is practicable the requirements of the Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Bill 142-1 (2010).
