Napier residents feel the heat

It’s hot out there!

It seems Napier residents are feeling the heat this month, as Napier City Council is experiencing unprecedented demand for water.

The water reservoirs are being emptied as fast as we can fill them, says Jon Kingsford, Director Infrastructure Services.

“The peak demand period for water has now expanded to include all daylight hours. But we can all do our bit to ensure there’s enough for everybody.”

People are asked to conserve water by watering gardens in the cooler hours, and checking hoses and taps for leaks.

Reducing our total daily consumption of water by 10 percent may be all that is required to avoid the need for the introduction of restrictions on water use.
