21 Apr Road Closure - Hurricanes vs Brumbies

Pursuant to the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, Section 342 that the Napier City Council will close the following streets to all traffic on Friday, 21 April 2017 for the Hurricanes vs Brumbies rugby match: • Morris Street full length from Nelson Park to Nelson Crescent 2.00pm to 11.00pm. • Latham Street between Vigor Brown Street and Nelson Crescent for approximately one hour at end of the match for crowd dispersal.

Napier City Council will close the following roads from 6.00am Saturday 8 April 2017 until 1.00am Sunday 9 April 2017 for the Mission Concert: Church Road from Montpelier Drive to Wharerangi Road Avenue Road from Church Road to Avondale Road Mission Road from Church Road to Auckland Road Irene Mooney Place - full length Bishops Close - full length Ennor Place - full length Vehicles parked on the road during road closures may be towed at the owner’s risk and expense. Local detours will be in place. Details for residents’ access and passes will be advised by mail.

Napier takes precautionary approach to positive water test

Napier City Council has this afternoon chlorinated the water in one of its reservoirs after routine testing returned a positive test for e-coli. The reservoir is the Enfield Rd reservoir and it services much of Napier including Taradale and Bay View during peak season. All other reservoirs tested on the same day returned clear results.

Agrichemical Spray Programme

Notice is hereby given that the Services Department of the Napier City Council will be commencing a selective Agrichemicals Spray Programme for a duration of 6 months from 25 November 2016 to 26 May 2017. This is for the control of broadleaf weeds on the sportsgrounds and reserves areas. In accordance with Growsafe Agrichemical user code NZS 8409-2004 signage “SPRAYING IN PROGRESS” will be visible in the areas being sprayed.

Boat ramp soon to be controlled by barrier arm

Upon acquiring ownership of the Nelson Quay Boat Ramp, previously owned by the Hawke’s Bay Sports Fishing Club, Napier City Council has implemented a user-pays system. From 1 August, access to the boat ramp will be controlled by a barrier arm. Access can be made by an annual swipe card pass or by payment by Eftpos/credit card at the entry pedestal on a per entry basis.

New law affects food businesses

A new law for all businesses that sell food comes into effect today. The Food Act 2014 has been designed to modernise food safety in New Zealand for the benefit of businesses and consumers. From today, anyone who starts a business that involves food must follow the new law, from restaurants to dairies, to internet cake sellers. Existing businesses also need to make changes, although they have longer to do so.

Napier Library closed for a month for refurbishment

Taradale Library will be open late on Wednesday nights while Napier Library is closed over the next month, from this Friday, 16 October, for refurbishment. Napier Library will re-open on Monday 16 November following a full re-paint of the ground and first floor levels, and the installation of new carpet made from recycled fishing nets.
