Rental & Retirement Housing
CURRENTLY OUR HOUSING UNITS ARE FULLY OCCUPIED AND THERE IS A WAITING LIST
The Council aims to provide well maintained flats and Villages in a secure and pleasant environment, with a emphasis on the welfare of the tenants.There are 373 flats situated in 12 Villages through out the city and suburbs. 9 Retirement Villages and 3 general Rental Villages of Napier.
Flats are available for people who meet Council's criteria, based on housing needs and income.
The Council endeavours to keep all its properties well maintained.
An annual maintenance inspection is carried out to check if there is any work that has not been reported requires being done and to programme for any replacement or improvements in the future. Tenants can contact the Council or Village Supervisors Monday to Friday during work hours to report general maintenance requirements.
Garden and Lawn Maintenance
The Council maintains the community lawns and gardens in a tidy condition.
Tenants are responsible for a small garden area surrounding their flat.
Policy on Pets
Council has a policy that allows for the following pets:
- Aquarium Fish
- Small birds (e.g. Budgerigar or Canary or bird of similar size and characteristics)
- Cat (one only, must be spayed or neutered)
- Dog - Only in special circumstances with permission of the Housing Manager. The dog must be no bigger than a lapdog.
Car parking Provided
Off street parking is available for one car per flat.
All visitors are asked to park either in a designated Visitors Car Park or outside the Village to avoid inconvenience to the tenants and traffic congestion.
